GIA Cultured Pearl Classification Report

New from the GIA is the Cultured Pearl Classification Report, which provides access to detailed pearl information based on the seven GIA Pearl Value Factors of size, shape, color, luster, surface, nacre, and matching. A digital image of the submitted item(s) is included.

Clients can submit loose, mounted, strung, or fixed-in-a-design pearls for a GIA Cultured Pearl Classification Report. This report is exclusively for cultured Akoya, South Sea and Tahitian pearls. Items can be submitted to any GIA laboratory location; this service and report do not include Identification testing. 

Criteria for submission are as follows:

• This service is only for cultured and untreated Akoya, South Sea, and Tahitian pearls, though routinely processed pearls are acceptable.
• Upon submission, clients must identify their pearls as untreated and cultured, and by pearl type.
• Up to 10 related loose pearls may be submitted per report. Loose pearls must be visually related to each other (i.e., similar colors, shapes, sizes, etc.).
• This is a Classification Report only.
• There are no tests for identification or treatment.
• It is not applicable for random testing.
• Pearls that are not qualified for this service will be changed to a Pearl Identification Service.
